A Note:

6/2/13

I once told myself: IF I am accepted into grad school, this blog would no longer be updated. As it turns out, in April, I received news of my acceptance for the Fall 2013 semester, where I will attain a Master's degree of Science in Nutrition.

Running a blog, as many of you may already know, is a demanding side job once the excitement wears off. And once I fell out of the blogging community's loop (have you SEEN how many blogs there are now? Wow!), it was like the kiss of death. Despite my best efforts, I couldn't get into a blogging routine once this happened due to the disconnect I felt from the community.

So I took a break. I struggled with the loss and with missing my blog. And then I realized I didn't have to run Book Faery to still be a book reviewer; I could read my books and post reviews online. I'm still a book review blogger, just not in the traditional sense.

I'll still be online. You can chat with me on Twitter, where I'll be posting links to my reviews and talking books. I'll also be posting links to nutrition articles. And if you'd like to connect with me where I guarantee I will post reviews, just add me as a friend on Goodreads.

So that's all, folks! It's been a fun and amazing journey, and I thank you all for listening to my thoughts about books. I hope we all can keep in touch elsewhere :)

In My Mailbox (14)

In My Mailbox

So yeah, because I went to BEA last week, I decided to push back the books I received in the mail (because the post would have become ridiculously longer if I included anymore books).  This week will be a mix of books received last week and this week.  Yippie!

Click here to read the rest of this post

Bought last week:

  • The Reckoning by Kelley Armstrong
  • Full Moon Rising by Keri Arthur

  • One Foot in the Grave by Jeaniene Frost
  • Warrior and Witch by Marie Brennan
Yes, I read the first book in the Night Huntress series, but if I'm going to be completely honest, I had mixed feelings about it.  (DON'T SHOOT ME PLEASE)  ...but I've heard people keep going on and on about this series, so I've decided to give it another shot.  There.  I said it.

Also, I was kinda not paying attention, and Warrior and Witch is the second book in the series.  Which means I need to go and buy the first.  This was totally an instance of... *browsing through Amazon* "OH hey!  That's a really cool cover! ...and I can buy it used for $.01!" *adds to cart*

Yep, I'm bad.

Bought this week:

Sorry, blurry picture.  My hands have a tendency to shake when I want them to be steady for pictures.  Anyway have heard great things about all of these series, and finally decided to buy copies of all three.  We'll see if I like!

  • Vicious Circle by Linda Robertson
  • Demon Angel by Meljean Brook
  • Darkfever by Karen Marie Moning

From publishers:

I received a package from Simon and Schuster (from their teen department, Simon Pulse) and it had these two books in them!  I think these are for me to review?  That's the only thing I can think of, since I already received the books I requested for my event a while back.
  • The Fallen (containing: The Fallen and Leviathan) by Thomas E. Sniegoski
  • Stupid Cupid by Rhonda Stapleton

So that's it for this week!

I've got reviews up for:
INSATIABLE
by Meg Cabot
(6/8 release)
HUNTED BY THE OTHERS
by Jess Haines
(already released)

And a giveaway with:

And now, I leave you all with a picture of my puppy, James, posing with Jess Haines' book Hunted by the Others

What did you all get this week?
Have you read any of these books?
Did you enjoy them?

  5. I love Jeaniene Frost's Night Huntress series. I know everyone loves Bones (including myself) but Spade, Vlad and Ian are just as great.

  6. The Reckoning was the perfect ending to Kelley's trilogy, and I can't wait for her next one! I love Keri Arthur and Karen Marie Moning, what a great stash! Happy reading! Here's mine.

  8. Dazzling Mage: I should be reading it soon :)

Sabrina: Aw thanks! You wouldn't think that if he was biting you though ;)

Smash: I hope so too. Cat kind of annoyed me towards the end of the first book, so I'm kind of wary about the second. Though since I've been hearing such great things about it from other people, I figured getting the 2nd book wouldn't kill me lol

Karen: Nope! He's an Australian Shepherd :)

  10. Tori: Hopefully Cat doesn't continue to annoy you, and hopefully Bones will sweep you off your feet! I think my fav. character in the series, aside from Bones, is Vlad. He has some of the best lines! I also enjoyed the first book in the spin off series, which features Spade. Good stuff!
