Dishing the Dirt {1: Reading Times}

I thought it would be fun if we got a few more discussions going on the blog every now and then. I used to do a few "you decide" posts, but Dishing the Dirt will be a little different. Here's the first question to start us off:

At what point in the day do you usually find yourself reading a book?

For me, it seems I'm most productive at night. Even if I'm free for the entire day, I can't get myself to sit down, crack open a book, and focus on the words while the sun's out. Besides, Twitter is a lot more enticing :) If I do read during the day, I don't seem to enjoy the novel as much--I'm not sure why, either! I tend to love/really like books when I read them later at night. Maybe it's because I'm usually tired by that point, and my brain isn't as nitpicky.

    I generally just read whenever I have the time and the desire, but I've realized this is usually the same times everyday. Mid-morning after the kids have eaten breakfast but before lunch (my work-out time, when I'm ya know...doing that, heh) and at night after they're in bed. :)

    If I'm not commuting on my bike, I get the most uninterrupted reading time on public transportation. It's really easy to zone out and focus on the book instead of on other people! Most other times, I'm in front of a computer screen, so it's hard not to get distracted.

    I'm *definitely* a much more productive reader at night. For some reason, I also seem to get a lot of reading done at school, like whenever we have 10 minutes to spare or whatever.

    I love to read at night, but my reading spot is so comfy I often nod off. Other favorite time is after lunch while I'm finishing my tea. Favorite spot: back porch where I can watch the birds at the feeder and cuss out the squirrels.

    @Amanda: I usually try to do it, but I literally have to force myself during the day :/

    @Fancy: Public transportation is a great time. I will occasionally read on the train. Now? Not so much. The mornings tend to be the only time I get to myself now, since I'm usually stuck doing hw :(

    @Ashley: I used to be like that! When I had 2-3 hour breaks between classes, I got a lot of reading done.

    LOL Darlene, cuss out the squirrels. I love it!

    I'm a night reader. I tend to stay up really late reading in bed by my night stand light. Unfortunately, my day time is pretty full with everything else that is life. I would love to read in the morning when it is quiet though.

    I'd love to read in the morning too! But my mornings (when I actually wake up before 10 lol) consist of me working out, making breakfast, rushing out the door to catch my train *sigh*

    I'd love to read right now, but I actually have to read for class. And get up in 5 and a half hours. Grr!
