A Note:

6/2/13

I once told myself: IF I am accepted into grad school, this blog would no longer be updated. As it turns out, in April, I received news of my acceptance for the Fall 2013 semester, where I will attain a Master's degree of Science in Nutrition.

Running a blog, as many of you may already know, is a demanding side job once the excitement wears off. And once I fell out of the blogging community's loop (have you SEEN how many blogs there are now? Wow!), it was like the kiss of death. Despite my best efforts, I couldn't get into a blogging routine once this happened due to the disconnect I felt from the community.

So I took a break. I struggled with the loss and with missing my blog. And then I realized I didn't have to run Book Faery to still be a book reviewer; I could read my books and post reviews online. I'm still a book review blogger, just not in the traditional sense.

I'll still be online. You can chat with me on Twitter, where I'll be posting links to my reviews and talking books. I'll also be posting links to nutrition articles. And if you'd like to connect with me where I guarantee I will post reviews, just add me as a friend on Goodreads.

So that's all, folks! It's been a fun and amazing journey, and I thank you all for listening to my thoughts about books. I hope we all can keep in touch elsewhere :)

Giveaway of SHIFT by Jeri Smith-Ready

Special thanks go out to Simon & Schuster and Big Honcho Media for making this giveaway possible!

Are you interested in winning a copy of SHIFT by Jeri Smith-Ready? Are you wondering what on earth this series is about? Well look no further. Thanks to the wonderful folks at Simon Pulse, two lucky blog readers will win their very own copies of this wonderful book.

...but that's not all! Because the SHADE universe deals with ghosts, it's essential that you have the ability to ward off ghosts too. So not only will the winners receive a copy of SHIFT, they'll also receive a super cool Ghost Bead Bracelet.

Aura’s life is anything but easy. Her boyfriend, Logan, died, and his slides between ghost and shade have left her reeling. Aura knows he needs her now more than ever. She loves Logan, but she can’t deny her connection with the totally supportive, totally gorgeous Zachary. And she’s not sure that she wants to. Logan and Zachary will fight to be the one by her side, but Aura needs them both to uncover the mystery of her past—the mystery of the Shift. As Aura’s search uncovers new truths, she must decide whom to trust with her secrets…and her heart.

Jeri Smith-Ready's previous adult novels include Wicked Game, Requiem for the Devil and Eyes of Crow. This is her first teen series. She lives in Maryland with her husband, two cats, and a retired racing greyhound. Learn more at www.jerismithready.com.

  7. If I could see and speak to ghosts, I think I would be scared out of my mind... but then after the shock wore off I would probably ask the normal questions " how did you die" stuff like that

  8. I would try to figure out if I could help them, if they are unsettled. Find out about them and their family after I got over the shock of course :)

If I could talk to ghosts, I would probably be a bad person. I would ask them to spy on the world and reveal everyone's secrets.

  15. I would ask them each what's one thing they wish they could still do, and I'd do it *for them. Also, I'd ask if they could ring up my dead friends/relatives for a game of ghost telephone. If they seem trustworthy.

  18. If I was able to see and talk to ghosts.. I would ask them what it was like to be a ghost. Maybe ask about things they have seen and done in this life and the next. I think it would be cool to sit down and talk to say, someone who was alive to see the real old west with Billy the Kid.

  19. If I could talk to ghosts, I don't know that I would actually use that ability. If there were just a few around, I might try to help them get where they belonged but if there were lots, I'd probably just try to ignore them since there would be too many to help.

  20. Well at first, i would freak out at seeing ghosts. Then after a while when i calmed down, I would ask them about their lives and learn about their time period. It would be interesting to know about different places from people, dead or alive.

  32. If I could see and talk to ghosts, I'd track down some family members. People like my mom and her brother, who I was really close to when they were alive. But also ancestors who were dead long before I was around. Of course, this is playing with the idea that all dead people are ghosts and can come and go from this plane at will. :)

  34. First, I would probably pee in my pants. Then, run and scream. But once I had to get use to the idea of always seeing them, I would do whatever it took to find out how to get them on their right path and out of mine. =)

  36. I'd probably be selfish if I could talk to ghosts. I'd find my dad and ask him how to fix all the things that have gone wrong in my life in the ten years since he died. And I'd keep him around until I finally decided I didn't have to have him yelling at me to fix it all. Probably a good thing I can't talk to ghosts. I wouldn't be very altruistic about it.
