A Note:

6/2/13

I once told myself: IF I am accepted into grad school, this blog would no longer be updated. As it turns out, in April, I received news of my acceptance for the Fall 2013 semester, where I will attain a Master's degree of Science in Nutrition.

Running a blog, as many of you may already know, is a demanding side job once the excitement wears off. And once I fell out of the blogging community's loop (have you SEEN how many blogs there are now? Wow!), it was like the kiss of death. Despite my best efforts, I couldn't get into a blogging routine once this happened due to the disconnect I felt from the community.

So I took a break. I struggled with the loss and with missing my blog. And then I realized I didn't have to run Book Faery to still be a book reviewer; I could read my books and post reviews online. I'm still a book review blogger, just not in the traditional sense.

I'll still be online. You can chat with me on Twitter, where I'll be posting links to my reviews and talking books. I'll also be posting links to nutrition articles.

And if you'd like to connect with me where I guarantee I will post reviews, just add me as a friend on Goodreads.

So that's all, folks! It's been a fun and amazing journey, and I thank you all for listening to my thoughts about books. I hope we all can keep in touch elsewhere :)

xoxo

  1. Lol, the zombie mention was enough to not make me watch the trailer. Good luck with the book though!

    1. Aww, too bad. It's not a zombie trailer ;D Just me talking about my upcoming paranormal book and the Authors After Dark Zombie Apocalypse Response Team, which is a team of about 15 authors giving away books for a contest leading up to AAD. Fun stuff!

  2. My reading ritual is to grab a warm drink, either coffee or tea. Grab my book or kindle and find a cozy place to hole up for an indefinite amount of time. Sometimes it's hard to find a quiet place( I have two boys 5 and 8 need I say more) so sometimes earplugs are part of the ritual and sometimes a Nerf gun lol

  3. My new book ritual is to find confortable place to sit or lie down and read. It does not have to be quite becuase I do pregfer tv or radio as a background noise. I do not like is when its too quite. I like to have a cup of coffe or tea or something to nibble on (healthy snacks).

  5. I have to say, I enjoy your video interviews, this is the second one I've seen and your enthusiasm is priceless!

I don't have any sort of book ritual, I just read. I am easy that way :) I read where ever and whenever I can. I am lucky in the sense of with the exception of my four-legged-kids, I don't have that many other distracts. I mastered years ago tuning out out people/things that bothered me, where now I do it automatically.

    1. ROFL! I love it! You've got to teach me the 'tune out' trick :D

    2. TJ, it can be bad sometimes... for example sometimes when I am not paying attention to anything around me, just hanging with the company of my own mind - when bam! out of no-where your grandma or friend starts talking to you, because you are not really paying attention you are in that prerecorded answers mode, (ex. yeah, mmm hmm, then what happened?, you don't say...) next thing you know you have just agreed to gift your kidney to your long lost cousin Bertha. Or your grandma walks out of the house and you have no clue where she went- as you're in her living room reading a book you picked up on the way over. (Which is scary because the DMV should have revoked her license YEARS ago!)

It's a flawed system, so I am not sure (morally)I can teach you the ways of tuning out those around you, for fear that you will come back to sue me when you unwilling gift your soul, kidney or family fortunes to a long lost cousin.

    3. ROFL! I'll remember that because I really am quite attached to my kidneys!

  6. Hmmmm, I usually curl up with a blanket and teddy bear/and or a cat that finds their way into my lap. I don't eat while eating because I don't want to leave smudge prints on the book. Last but not least....I use my 9 years of being a mom...I naturally tune out the whining and "look at me ploys" and listen for the "that screech sounds like it may need a hug and kiss."

    1. oh I know exactly the sound you are talking about! Sometimes though I wonder if it is more a 6th sense thing for any parent (or pet owner) where you just know something is off. For me there is a silence sound that is almost louder than the screech or the soft 'uh oh', that penetrates anything else you might be involved in.

    2. LOL I know what you mean! About the only thing that draws me out of the reading coma is the sound of something breaking or someone in pain :) Mostly the first one though lol
