A Note:

6/2/13

I once told myself: IF I am accepted into grad school, this blog would no longer be updated. As it turns out, in April, I received news of my acceptance for the Fall 2013 semester, where I will attain a Master's degree of Science in Nutrition.

Running a blog, as many of you may already know, is a demanding side job once the excitement wears off. And once I fell out of the blogging community's loop (have you SEEN how many blogs there are now? Wow!), it was like the kiss of death. Despite my best efforts, I couldn't get into a blogging routine once this happened due to the disconnect I felt from the community.

So I took a break. I struggled with the loss and with missing my blog. And then I realized I didn't have to run Book Faery to still be a book reviewer; I could read my books and post reviews online. I'm still a book review blogger, just not in the traditional sense.

I'll still be online. You can chat with me on Twitter, where I'll be posting links to my reviews and talking books. I'll also be posting links to nutrition articles. And if you'd like to connect with me where I guarantee I will post reviews, just add me as a friend on Goodreads.

So that's all, folks! It's been a fun and amazing journey, and I thank you all for listening to my thoughts about books. I hope we all can keep in touch elsewhere :)

BOTS 2: Trinity Faegen

by Trinity Faegen

Book: THE MEPHISTO COVENANT

What is The Mephisto Covenant: If the Mephisto can earn love and return it selflessly, God promises peace in their angry, restless souls. The caveat: Only the Anabo, descendants of the daughter of Eve, are pure enough of spirit to love a son of Hell.

Sidekick: Phoenix DeKyanos

Relation to male protagonist: Brother

Where he fits in pecking order: Third of seven sons born to the dark angel, Mephistopheles, and the Anabo, Elektra

What he looks like: 6’, black hair, black eyes, a goatee, and artist hands

Hobbies: Builds choppers for his brothers and the Luminas on the Mephisto mountain. Also likes video games, the more violent, the better. When he’s feeling especially morose, he heads for Yorkshire to visit Jane’s grave.

Who is Jane: The Anabo he found a hundred years ago – his intended, his mate for eternity. The night she was to join him in immortality, the Mephisto’s oldest brother and nemesis, Eryx, abducted Jane, waited for the Mephisto to show up to rescue her, and killed her before Phoenix could reach her.

What Jane’s death did to Phoenix: Ramped up his rage and killed any interest in another female, even the non-Anabo. When his brothers go out looking for girls in dark places, Phoenix stays behind and builds another chopper.

What Phoenix says when his brothers suggest he might find another Anabo: “There’ll never be anyone for me but Jane.”

Why it matters: Without selfless love, none of the Mephisto can be redeemed and make it to Heaven when the end of the world comes. If Phoenix never feels selfless love for a mate, he’s doomed to Hell, which means he’ll never see Jane again. He’s smart enough to recognize the irony.

Was his love for Jane chopped liver: It wasn’t selfless. She didn’t live long enough to build that kind of love. Phoenix knows this, way deep down inside, in a place he won’t acknowledge.

What Phoenix’s subconscious thinks when his brothers suggest he might find another Anabo: Yes, if there’s an atom of mercy in the universe.

Phoenix Quotes from THE MEPHISTO COVENANT

Wise Phoenix: “Lucifer will be furious with you for failing, but it’s not like he can do anything about it. Women don’t always do what you want, even if you’re Lord of the Underworld.”

Resigned Phoenix: “Loneliness is a terrible place to live. We became immortal over a thousand years ago. We have each other, and M, and the Luminas, and the Purgatories. We have our work. We have everything we need or want, can travel anywhere in the world at the speed of light, have amazing powers, and some of us are even mildly talented. What we don’t have is a companion. Everyone wants someone, and maybe we’re all from Hell, but when it comes to girls, we’re as human as any guy out there.”

Phoenix makes like he’s above it all: “You’re seventeen years old, and this is how seventeen-year-olds talk to each other. I’m a thousand years old, and this stuff is like alien-speak to me. If I found another Anabo, she’d be writing OMG and I’d be thinking, You’re f’ing kidding me.”

Revolutionary Phoenix: “If free will means you die, then to hell with free will. I’ll lock you up and sit on you if you try to go back.”

Why Phoenix should totes win Sexies Sidekick: He’s wise, smart, loyal, solemn with a side of dry snark, and all that rigid control over his emotions, good and bad, makes him mysterious. Also? The boy is hot. Like smokin’ hot.
