A Note:

6/2/13

I once told myself: IF I am accepted into grad school, this blog would no longer be updated. As it turns out, in April, I received news of my acceptance for the Fall 2013 semester, where I will attain a Master's degree of Science in Nutrition.

Running a blog, as many of you may already know, is a demanding side job once the excitement wears off. And once I fell out of the blogging community's loop (have you SEEN how many blogs there are now? Wow!), it was like the kiss of death. Despite my best efforts, I couldn't get into a blogging routine once this happened due to the disconnect I felt from the community.

So I took a break. I struggled with the loss and with missing my blog. And then I realized I didn't have to run Book Faery to still be a book reviewer; I could read my books and post reviews online. I'm still a book review blogger, just not in the traditional sense.

I'll still be online. You can chat with me on Twitter, where I'll be posting links to my reviews and talking books. I'll also be posting links to nutrition articles. And if you'd like to connect with me where I guarantee I will post reviews, just add me as a friend on Goodreads.

So that's all, folks! It's been a fun and amazing journey, and I thank you all for listening to my thoughts about books. I hope we all can keep in touch elsewhere :)

AAD NOLA Author Spotlight: Katie Reus

1. What is your favorite genre to read?

Romance! I’m open to pretty much all subgenres of romance but lately I’m reading a lot of paranormal romance and romantic suspense.

2. Why did you choose to pursue this career path?
About 5-ish years ago I read a book that changed everything for me. At the end of the book the protagonist made a decision to finally do what she wanted in life: write romance. It was like a light bulb went off. Despite having a degree and a good job, I was floundering around with what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. Luckily I figured out writing was for me and haven’t looked back since.

3. When did you decide that you wanted to be a published author?
The second I started writing.

4. What has the journey been like?
It’s been a continuous adventure. I had no idea how stressful it would be (at times) when I first decided I wanted to be published and I definitely had no clue how slow the publishing industry can be so there were hurdles I never planned on which has made where I am today that much sweeter.

5. What is the writing process like for you?
I used to have a pretty strict writing schedule but after having a baby six months ago, my schedule is pretty much ‘write during naptime’. I still have the same daily output (though some days I wonder how), but my schedule is just not as structured as it used to be. The one thing that’s stayed continuous in my process is that when I’m working on a story I write every day until I’m done.

Character's Name: Connor Armstrong, Alpha of the newly formed Armstrong-Cordona pack
Character's Appearance: In human form: A little over six feet tall, broad shoulders, muscular
build, but not bulked up. Dark brown hair and greenish gray eyes. In wolf form: pure black coat
of fur and almost five feet tall on all fours.

6. What is one thing you wouldn't be caught dead doing?
Getting a pedicure or manicure.

7. If you could marry any person, who would it be and why?
Shifters don’t marry, we mate…And Analena Cordona will be mine.

8. Coffee or tea?
Coffee.

9. What is your favorite article of clothing?
Nothing. I prefer to be naked or in my fur.

10. Night owl, or early riser?
Both. My wolf likes to run free under the stars and as Alpha of my own pack, I’m usually up
before everyone else. I rarely sleep.

A little about me: I’ve been reading romance from a young age—ever since I discovered my mom’s hidden stash. Luckily the addiction stayed with me into adulthood. I write paranormal romance and sexy romantic suspense for Carina Press, Harlequin Nocturne, and NAL/Signet Eclipse. Fear has a scent. So does desire…

Ana Cordona has been a strong leader for the lupine shifters who survived after all the males and most of the females in her pack were mysteriously poisoned. As tough as she is, with no Alpha male, the pack is vulnerable to the devious shifter Taggart, who wants to claim both their ranch and Ana as his own. When Connor Armstrong comes back into her life, promising protection, it’s almost enough to make Ana forget how he walked out on her before—and reluctantly accept his offer to mate.

The minute Connor sees Ana again, it reawakens a raw hunger. He must have her for his bondmate—his wolf cries out for it. But his human side knows he must proceed with caution because of their complicated past. If he is to truly have her body and soul, he must go beyond his burning desire and win back her heart. Whatever it takes, he is determined not to leave her side again.

But Taggart and his rival pack are not their only enemies. A human element in town is targeting shifters. Their plan not only threatens Ana and Connor’s future, but the lives of the entire pack…
